Before You Knock...

I am Type 1 Autistic with social anxiety and do not answer my door for unexpected visitors or solicitors of any kind. I also work full-time from home in a position with access to confidential patient health information that is protected under state and federal health privacy laws and must ensure that this information is protected from unauthorized access during any visit.

I do not answer the door unless:

• You are expected—i.e., Amazon, order delivery, maintenance responding to a service request, or you have called or texted ahead.
• A stated emergency requires immediate access to the premises (that usually means law enforcement or emergency maintenance, who by law are required to announce themselves anyway).
